Services on Sundays and midweek, together with other worshipVisitors are very welcome at all our services. See the Calendar for any changes to this pattern. Sunday Services8.00 am Holy CommunionThis is a peaceful, said service using the traditional words of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. 10.00 am Parish CommunionThis is our main service of the day, using the Common Worship liturgy, Order One in modern language. The various Young St Mary’s groups meet during this service (See the Children page). Afterwards, there is a chance to chat over coffee in the Church Hall. There is a rota for essential duties. If you would like to help then email churchwarden 6.30 pm Evening PrayerThis is a reflective service as night draws in. We alternate between the Book of Common Prayer and Common Worship. There is a communion service on the fourth Sunday of the month instead. All-Age ServicesSix times a year, the Parish Communion is an All-Age Service. Sometimes this is a service in the Church. At other times, this is service in the more informal setting of the Church Hall, with a children's orchestra providing the music. Midweek Holy CommunionThis is held at 9.30 am every Wednesday. There is a board by the organ where people can write the names of those who need our prayers; we pray for them at this service. Morning PrayerFor those who like to start their day with prayer and reflection, Morning Prayer is said in church at 8.30 am every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Bible Study and Prayer GroupsWe have two bible study groups and a prayer group which meet weekly or fortnightly in the evening. There is also a third bible study group which normally meets at 2.30 in Donnington on the third Monday of each month. "Prayer and Toast" is on a Friday at the "Prince of Wales" early in the morning. New members are welcome to any of these five groups. To find out more contact the Vicar. Baptisms, Weddings and FuneralsThese are available for people living in the parish, which covers Rose Hill, Iffley and Donnington. For more information, contact the Vicar. Looking Beyond the ParishWe regularly provide food for the Gatehouse centre for the homeless. Once a month, there is a simple lunch to raise money for Christian Aid. We target a different cause each month with our MISSION OF THE MONTH. |
