Music and Bells
The Organ
St Mary's is fortunate in the quality of its organ which was built in 1875 by one of the great
organ builders of the time — William Hill. Although only having two manuals and
thirteen stops it is very versatile and has a beautiful tone. For greater detail and a
history of Iffley organs click here.
There are two groups (with many members in common) singing at St Mary's
St Mary's Choir
The choir sings at the 10 am service most Sundays, during the Communion.
Practice is at 9 am on the day when a decision as to what to sing will be taken depending on the voices available.
All are welcome regardless of ability.
To participate turn up at 9 am!
St Mary's Singers
The Singers always welcome new members but at this time is particularly keen to recruit singers of all voices especially tenors.
An ability to sight read is essential.
The Singers normally sing at the evening service on the fourth Sunday in the month.
Rehearsals are at 7.30 on the second Sunday of the month and at 4.30 on the day of the service.
The Singers aim to provide a mix of modern and traditional church music and regularly sing an anthem,
canticles, responses and psalms.

The Youth Orchestra
This is a group of young musicians, directed by Liz Marshall who play at our
All-Age Services six times a year.
The Bells
The church has a set of 6 bells which are rung regularly by a team of enthusiastic ringers.
They practice on Wednesdays and welcome new members over 12 years old. At this time they are especially keen to enlist more ringers.
They would welcome visiting ringers over the Christmas and New Year period
