MISSION AT ST MARY'S
The Church is called to be a sign and instrument of God’s Kingdom. Mary, to whom our church is dedicated,
spoke of God’s Kingdom in the Magnificat when she said that God has “lifted up the lowly and filled the hungry with good things”.
At St Mary’s we believe that we are here to make a difference.
Our programme of Mission work provides resources to a wide range of causes where we believe we can make a difference.
We seek to build relationships with the partner organisations with which we choose to work.
We raise resources for our work with partners through:
- A Mission of the Month programme funded by PCC funds and other gifts,
- An annual Harvest Appeal,
- We support the Oxford Community Emergency Foodbank
by collecting the required items at the Vestry before and after the 10 am service.
- Special events and appeals throughout the year.
We recognise that continuity of support is important to our partners and important to our congregation
in building their knowledge and understanding of the issues our partners face.
We seek long term relationships with our partners, with funding generally continuing over three year periods.
Contributions can be made through collections at services or sent to the Church Office, Iffley Rectory, OX4 4EJ.
Cheques should be made out to "Iffley PCC" with the name of the appropriate cause on the reverse.
If the donor pays UK income tax, use of the envelopes (in the church pews) means that tax can be reclaimed to increase the donation.
Our giving to this work is governed by the PCC’s Mission Policy.
